The Root Industries Xtension deck isn’t one deck – it’s actually 3 in 1. Root has solved a major issue in the scooter industry. As riders grow, they need more footspace on the deck, which means that a rider has to purchase multiple decks over their riding career. The Xtension deck is supremely innovative, utilizing a clever rail system to extend the width of your deck as you go. The base deck is 4.75 inches wide and utilizes deck plugs to “close” the sides where the rail extensions are installed. When you need a 5.5″ or 6″ wide deck, all you have to do is remove the deck plug and slide your desired extender in place. You might be wondering how durable a deck is that has rail extensions. Some of the top park shredders in the world have spent 2 years testing the deck without any issues with the side rails. The extension deck is available in 2 lengths, 21 and 22 inches, giving a massive range of flexibility in sizing. The Xtension deck comes with 3 sets of stylized boxed drop outs including axles and spacers for each rail size and either 24/30mm wheel sizes. This is hands down the most versatile pro scooter deck made to date. With all of the money you are going to save on decks in the future, you can probably afford some titanium bars now and have the absolute lightest pro scooter setup on the planet.
The Root Industries Xtension Deck is 4.75″ and 5.5″ and 6″ wide by 21″ or 22″ long, with an 83 degree headtube angle. Headtube angle affects a couple of things. The steep rake of the Root Industries Deck makes it perfect for those riders who have mastered the single tail whip and are moving onto multiple whips. The steeper the headtube angle, the more the Xtension Deck whips around a flat plane with less resistance. Because the deck has boxed ends, we consider the Root Industries Scooter Deck to be a street deck but it’s equally at home at the skatepark or in your hood. PRO SCOOTER DECKS that are 22-22.99″ long will be ideal for intermediate to pro riders that have been in the sport for a while or for those scooter riders that need a little more footspace. The Root Industries Xtension Deck works with the following wheel diameters: 100mm,110mm,115mm,120mm and the following wheel widths: 24mm,26mm,28mm,30mm. Note that decks typically come standard with 24mm spacers. If you change the wheel core width, you will also need to change your spacers to accomodate the new wheel core width.

Pro scooter decks are compatible with wheels, grip tape, and headsets.
HEADSETS
Headsets contain the bearings that sit in your scooter deck upper and lower headtube cups, which allow your forks and bars to spin in unison. There are two types of headsets – integrated and standard. Very few scooters these days are made with standard headsets. In fact, we don’t even sell them since every deck on our site is an integrated deck. On our site, all headsets work with all decks since they are all integrated. On other sites, verify that your headset and deck are either both standard or both integrated.
GRIP TAPE
Decks vary vastly in size so, if you are purchasing grip tape, make sure that it is approximately the same size as your deck. Larger sheets of grip tape may have to be cut down to fit your deck, while smaller sheets may not fit a larger deck. In other words, we don’t recommend buying smaller sheets of grip tape for a large deck. You can always buy a large sheet of grip tape for a smaller deck but it may require cutting to get it to fit properly.
WHEELS
There are three things to know about wheels as it relates to scooter decks. (1) The wheel outer diameter must be compatible with the wheel diameter of the deck. (2) The wheel width must be compatible with the deck spacers that come on the rear axle of your deck (and forks). (3) Rules 1 and 2 also apply to your forks. In other words, if you are running 120mm diameter wheels with a 30mm width, both your deck and forks must be able to accommodate 120×30 wheels. It’s wise to check wheel compatibility on any deck that you want to purchase, but most decks and forks are designed to work with conventional 110×24 or 120×24 wheels. When running an unconventional size wheel (120×30,110×30,115×28,etc), please double check the wheel compatibility of your deck and forks.
